We’re preparing for our demonstration of worm bin systems and vermicomposting at the Native Seeds/Search plant sale in Tucson on Saturday, April 24.  It’s been a rather unexpected cold snap, and I’ve re-attached the heating cable that’s planted in my outdoor worm bin system so that the worms can continue to enjoy a more active lifestyle. We’ll be trying to cool them off in the coming months as the temperatures soar from the current 45F to well over 90 F. But once our herd has expanded into the space provided, I don’t think we’ll be quite so finicky about adjusting the temperatures.  For right  now, though, we want the little critters to eat and multiply quickly.
